After successfully launching and operating the property management business Altruva Properties, Albert Lee decided to start a nonprofit wing to the venture: Altruva Foundation. The purpose of Altruva Foundation is to disseminate altruistic stays to individuals with vetted needs that match the specific community needs listed below.
Altruva Foundation partners with other nonprofits, ministries and churches to deliver altruistic stays to their program participants. Altruva’s altruistic stays are not open to the general public
Through Altruva Foundation, a sustainable source of temporary affordable housing is now available. We work with nonprofits and local agencies to identify vetted needs in the community, and provide altruistic stays of 3 days to 3 weeks at our properties in the area to address those needs. These altruistic stays are provided on a sustainable basis as a natural by-product of the operation of Altruva’s mid-term rental properties.
Recipients of our altruistic stays enjoy a stay at one of our lovely, fully-furnished properties for between 50% to 100% off the market nightly rate. This means that depending on the partnering agency, recipients will receive temporary furnished housing at half the market cost or less, and in some cases, completely free.
So if a property would normally cost $200 per night to stay in, recipients receive an altruistic stay at the property for between $0 to $90 per night.
Altruva Foundation serves a wide variety of nonprofits who have members needing temporary affordable housing. Of particular importance to the organization are the needs of:
Single low-income mothers
Women and children in abusive relationships
Cancer patients and their caregivers and families
Individuals struggling with divorce
Church-planting pastors and their families
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
— Ephesians 2:10
Altruva Foundation seeks to provide temporary affordable housing to individuals in need as a way to honor Jesus. We are a faith-based organization energized by Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” We view the altruistic stays that Altruva Foundation provides as a good work that can help many marginalized people.
Altruistic stays are in line with God’s heart, as Psalm 68:5 describes God as “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” We seek to emulate that heart by extending love and hospitality to the marginalized in our community.
And in the spirit of King David’s great-grandfather and great-grandmother Boaz and Ruth, who allowed Ruth to glean wheat from the fields with dignity, we seek to partner with property owners so that their properties can be used to sustainably help the marginalized in a way that honors and acknowledges the dignity of those being helped.
Join the journey with us to provide temporary affordable housing across America!
